Program Overview

The bachelor's degree in musicology is intended for high school graduates with a strong interest in the theoretical reflection of music. The student acquires comprehensive knowledge of the theoretical disciplines of music (harmony, counterpoint, musical forms, theory of musical notation, musical analysis), the history of European and Czech music, the history and theory of popular and jazz music, and other disciplines of music science (ethnomusicology, music psychology, music sociology, music criticism and popularization of music, etc.) and other important fields for musicologists (foreign languages, history of philosophy, aesthetics and general theory of art, etc.). In the bachelor's degree, students are involved in solving collective research projects of the Department of Musicology and carry out independent research
