Program Overview

The study primarily aims at the mediation of language in its instrumental function. Besides practical language teaching, the study will primarily be focused on elementary theoretical instruction on the language system, on Czech literature, history and cultural background. The instruction will be carried out in English which is seen as a mediating language that can help student learn Czech more effectively and as a language of theoretical instruction. English communicational competence (it is supposed that English will not be students' mother tongue) will also be developed systematically with the aim to prepare students for their professional career in the area of international contacts
