Program Overview

The bachelor's study program Czech language and literature offers courses in linguistics, literary history and theory. During the teaching of compulsory subjects, you will learn everything about the development of the Czech language from its beginnings to the present day and its specifics. You will orient yourself in linguistic disciplines such as phonetics and phonology, morphology, lexicology, syntax or stylistics, and you will also become familiar with the historical development of the Czech language. You will learn the basics of typography and editing practice, but also how to write different types of texts. You will also get to know Czech literature from the beginning of the 19th century to the present day and get a glimpse into the secrets of literary theory.
