Program Overview

German philology, as one of the philological disciplines, is primarily focused on the knowledge of the language, culture and literature of German-speaking countries. The aim of the bachelor's degree is to provide basic and subsequently expanding knowledge and competences in the field of German language, linguistics, literature and literary science, as well as the history and culture of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The student will acquire language competence corresponding to level B2-C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe, the ability to think about the functions and forms of language, about literature. The study also provides a basic overview of the history of politics and thought in German-speaking countries.
