Program Overview

The study of Japanese philology in the maior program is primarily aimed at effectively mastering the contemporary Japanese language to such an extent that the graduate can use it in practice and further develop and improve his knowledge. In the first year, the emphasis is mainly on the study of a practical language. Czech teachers and Japanese lecturers participate in his teaching, who coordinate and complement each other's teaching. The result is a comprehensive intensive language course. In the next two years, students in the major and minor programs also acquire the basics in terms of language theory. During their studies, students will also get to know Japanese literature, history, culture and contemporary Japanese society. Knowledge of these areas is necessary for a general understanding of the Japanese mentality and for the education of a Japanologist, and is also a prerequisite for future specialization
