We cover a wide range of topics, from typography to visual corporate identity, equipping you with the skills to meet the demands of UI/UX design solutions, websites, and digital publishing. At BSBI, we take a diverse approach to teaching, fostering a studio-based collaborative learning environment, conducting workshops, and supporting students in finding industry placements outside of the curriculum. Our primary focus is on maintaining the highest practical and industry-related standards, with a strong emphasis on enterprise, leadership, and success.

Throughout the course, you'll have the opportunity to develop your design potential under the guidance of industry experts. Your portfolio will showcase not only your proficiency in various powerful software skills but also your ability to think creatively in complex design situations, all with a practical and vocational approach.

The four-year international route program includes a foundation year, where you'll be introduced to the fundamentals of the creative industry. This phase allows you to refine your career path and build a strong portfolio, preparing you to seamlessly transition into your BA degree. Additionally, you'll gain proficiency in using the English language in an academic context, further enhancing your prospects in the global job market.

Foundation International Route Option

Age Requirement: The minimum age for enrollment is 18, and titles will be awarded upon completing at least 11 years of schooling. If an applicant is 17 but will turn 18 within 3 months of enrollment, they are still eligible to apply.

This integrated international route foundation course in art design and media offers guidance on creating an exceptional portfolio, ensuring a direct progression into your BA degree course.

Academic Qualifications: Equivalent to GCSE, as recognized by ECCTIS UK.

English Language Requirements:

Official English Tests:

  • IELTS – minimum overall score of 5.0 (with a minimum of 4.5 in each component).

  • Password test – minimum overall score of 5.0 (with a minimum of 4.5 in each component).

  • PTE (Academic) – minimum overall score of 46 (with a minimum of 41 in each component).

  • LanguageCert International ESOL SELT – minimum B1 Achiever High Pass.

  • Duolingo test – overall score of 95+.

West African Certificates (WAEC AND NECO) will be accepted as standalone qualifications if they include a minimum of C6 in English and were issued within the last 5 years. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is also accepted with an overall grade of C or above. For applicants from Tanzania and Cameroon, an IELTS (or equivalent certificate) is required.

If the WAEC/NECO certificate was issued more than 5 years ago, it must be enhanced by a successful (50%+) Internal English Assessment.

Applicants from majority English-speaking countries who completed their academic qualifications in those countries are exempt from English tests. These countries include Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Malta, New Zealand, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, UK, and US.

The English Language test requirement can be waived if:

  • Applicants achieved an ECCTIS-recognized High School Certificate where the medium of instruction was entirely in English (both teaching and assessment).

  • The applicant is a Canadian national who completed studies at an English-speaking School/College/University.

BA (Hons)

Age Requirement: The minimum age for enrollment is 18, and titles will be awarded upon completing at least 12 years of schooling.

For direct Year 1 BA entry, applicants are required to submit an online portfolio through the BSBI Applicant Portal.

Academic Qualifications: Acceptable qualifications include a school leaving certificate that qualifies for higher education in Germany (e.g., Abitur, Fachhochschulreife, or Matura). Alternatively, international baccalaureate, international school leaving certificates, BTEC/national diploma, or advanced vocational certificate of education will be considered.

Applicants who do not meet the above academic requirements may still be considered on an individual basis if they possess professional qualifications and/or have four years of full-time work experience.

English Language Requirements:

Official English Tests:

  • TOEFL IBT – minimum overall score of 80 (with a minimum of 17 in Listening, 18 in Reading, 20 in Speaking, and 17 in Writing).

  • Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency – minimum overall score of 69 (with a minimum of 162 in each component).

  • LanguageCert International ESOL SELT – minimum B2 Communicator High Pass (with a minimum of 33 in each component).

  • Duolingo test – overall score of 105.

Applicants with a slightly insufficient score in one component but meet the overall threshold can take an English diagnostic test online. Students in Germany may also sit for an internal assessment, free of charge, with a passing rate of 50%+.

The English Language test requirement can be waived if:

  • Applicants achieved an ECCTIS UK recognized High-School Certificate within the last 2 years, with English as the medium of instruction.

  • The applicant graduated within the last 5 years and can provide a Duolingo test in support of a medium of instruction letter.

  • The applicant is a Canadian national who completed a bachelor's degree at an English-speaking university.

For West African Certificates (WAEC AND NECO), a minimum of C6 in English and issuance within the last 5 years is required.   • A high school certificate can refer to undergraduate certificate, undergraduate diploma, HNC, HND, CertHE, DipHE, etc.

Schengen Zone Residents Entry Requirements:

Applicants who are residents in the Schengen Zone are not required to present an IELTS language test or equivalent. Instead, they are required to pass the BSBI English diagnostics interview, which will be provided by BSBI.
