Program Overview

The bachelor s program takes the compositional foundations of Western music as a starting point to provide an initial overview of the field of musicology, which is combined from the outset with a methodological grounding. Research and teaching at the department focuses on the area of historical music research, which is concerned primarily with the creation, notation, appearance, rendition, performance, function, and impact of works from the history of European music.

Should provide evidence that they possess the necessary qualification for higher education entrance Abitur, ECTS points:180, Direct general higher education entrance qualification:secondary school leaving certificate is equivalent to the German Abitur,Direct field-restricted higher education entrance qualification: secondary school leaving certificate that is restricted to specific fields of study or vocational areas may only select fields of study from those areas, Language skill:DSH with a proficiency level of DSH 2 or 3, TestDaF with a proficiency level of 4 or 5 (TDN 4 or 5) on all four parts, Goethe Certificate C2, Deutsches Sprachdiplom, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, German Abitur or German as a native language, at least taken a language course at level C1 of the Common European Framework: a passing grade in a C1-level language course, participation in a C1-level language course, evidence of proficiency level DSH 1, TestDaF at proficiency level 3 (TDN 3), Goethe Certificate C1.
