International Management Studies in the Baltic Sea Region (BMS) Bachelor's programme

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Hochschule Stralsund

Program Overview

The International Management Studies in the Baltic Sea Region is a fully English-taught 4-year Bachelor degree that prepares you for a genuinely global career by combining rigorous business fundamentals with deep expertise in one of Europe's most dynamic regions. You'll graduate not just with management knowledge, but with the cross-cultural competence, language skills, and real-world experience that international employers actually want.

Curriculum Structure

Years 1-2: Building Your Foundation

Your first two years establish the core business competencies you'll need across any international role. You'll work through Accounting, Principles of Economics, Basics of Business Law, and Mathematics and Data Literacy to build analytical rigor. Alongside these essentials, you'll develop practical skills in Project Management and Introduction to Logistics & Supply Chain Management, giving you immediate tools for real business environments. You'll also begin your language journey with 2nd Foreign Language I, whether that's German, Polish, Swedish, or another Baltic Sea region language, depending on your background.

Years 2-3: Specialization and International Experience

In semesters 5-6, you'll choose your major from four distinct pathways—Management and Innovation, International Finance and Trade, Market and Communication, or German Business—allowing you to shape your expertise toward your career goals. Courses like Innovation Management, International Commercial Law & Dispute Resolution, and Intercultural Management & Psychology sharpen your ability to lead across borders. This is also when you'll complete a mandatory semester abroad, either studying or interning internationally, which transforms your theoretical knowledge into lived cross-cultural competence.

Year 4: Professional Application and Thesis

Your final year begins with a 21-week internship where you apply everything you've learned in real organizations. You'll then complete your Bachelor Thesis on an international topic, synthesizing your accumulated expertise into original research that prepares you for postgraduate study or professional roles. By this stage, you'll have developed not just business acumen, but the independence and critical thinking expected of professionals in global markets.
