Program Overview

As an interdisciplinary science at the interface between information processing and experimental sciences, bioinformatics thrives on the direct interaction of scientists from both research areas. Examples of this are the development of databases, statistical methods and efficient algorithms for the analysis of genome sequences, gene expression data, metabolic networks, image data or phenotypic characteristics of different organisms. Bioinformatics also deals with the analysis and modeling of data from other areas such as ecology or toxicology.
