BS Materials Science and Engineering

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Saarland University

Program Overview

"The solution of material problems is of decisive importance for the progress in technology today. Materials scientists optimize the properties of materials and create new materials that are tailor-made for specific applications. Around 70 percent of all new products, whether in an electric car, touchscreen cell phone or wind power plant, are based on such materials. Further application examples are lightweight construction and connection technology in vehicle and aircraft technology, medical technology (e.g. biomaterials for implants), process engineering (e.g. membrane technology for seawater desalination), environmental protection (exhaust gas cleaning, filter technology) and materials that have ""sensations"", but can also act (""Smart Materials"" with integrated sensor / actuator functions,"
