General and Comparative Literature (AVL) explores literary processes in their historical and global manifestations, often following aesthetics, rhetoric and narratology. The task of the subject could be summarized as: theory-based examination of what literature was, is or could be, on the basis of texts from as many epochs and in as many different languages as possible.
