Linguistics is the science of human language. Linguists explore what structures a human language has, which features are common to all languages, and how languages differ systematically. There are points of contact to neighboring areas in the humanities and natural sciences - in particular to philosophy, psychology, computer science, mathematics and logic. General linguistics can be studied as a major or minor subject.
