East Asian Studies is dedicated to the investigation of East Asian societies in their historical development, present-day guise and regional context, the whole from a cultural studies perspective. The objective of the course is to enable students to learn an East Asian language (Japanese or Chinese), to acquire specific knowledge of the countries and regions in question and to engage in academic investigation of relevant issues in an independent manner.
