Program Overview

The course "European literatures and media in a global context" (EuLit for short) is aimed at everyone who wants to understand literature, film, theater plays and other works of art and place them in their cultural contexts. The interdisciplinary course focuses on the most diverse forms of cultural exchange in Europe and in countries where traces of European languages, literatures and cultures can be found. The focus is on the aspect of mutual exchange and comparison. The course imparts a wide range of literary and media literacy and skills in analyzing, commenting on and interpreting aesthetic works. The students learn to recognize works of art in their cultural and media context, to bring them precisely to the point and to question them.
