Program Overview

In a long tradition of cultural relations between Germans and Poles at the University of Halle, there is a permanent lectureship for Slavic languages, including Polish, established in 1920, which Dmitrij Tschizevskij (1894-1977), later one of the best-known Slavists in Germany , held from 1932--1945. Studying Polish Studies in Halle means learning the language, literature and culture of Germany's largest eastern neighbor. Due to its proximity to the German-Polish border, Halle is particularly attractive here.
