University of Marburg

Program Overview

In this course, you will deal with, among other things, the opportunities and dangers of political developments such as Brexit, populism, the relevance of Shakespeare and his contemporaries in his and our time, with contemporary fantasy literature, with crime novels, with the literature and culture of the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and the United States. Contemporary cultural phenomena such as the importance of TV series, fake news, the #BlackLivesMatter and #MeToo debates and questions of increasing technologization in and through the media are just as much part of your study program as the question of the role of language in politics and society. In summary: You will receive an intensive practical language, literary, cultural and linguistic education. Of course, you also have the opportunity to spend part of your studies at one of our numerous partner universities in English-speaking countries. We are happy to support you with the selection and preparations.
