Program Overview

As a sub-discipline within ancient studies, Prehistory and Early History primarily explores the artefacts of cultures that were entirely or largely without writing. The faculty takes the lead with a focus on the region of northern Germany, the archeology of the Baltic Sea area and early history, for both teaching and research - with an emphasis on the archeology of settlements and the landscape.
