University of Rostock History

The University of Rostock also known as Universitat Rostock or Rostock University is a public university in the city of Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The university was founded in the year 1419 by confirmation of Pope Martin V making it oldest university in Northern Europe and Baltic Sea area, 8th oldest in Central Europe, and the 5th university established in the Holy Roman Empire.
