Program Overview

Molecular biology as a branch of biology has increased in significance over the past few years. It deals with living organisms and life processes on a subcellular, molecular level. On this level, many of the differences between the groups of living organisms are blurred. Molecular biology therefore overlaps with the physiology and molecular biology of animals, plants and microorganisms, as well as with molecular genetics, biochemistry, and molecular biophysics. Molecular biology acts as a basic science for some fields of medicine and biotechnology. The course teaches the basics of biology and related sciences such as chemistry, physics, and mathematics, then builds on this with specific knowledge from the field of molecular biology.
