As an application and fundamentals-oriented course of study at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy at the Julius-Maximilians-Universit t W rzburg, the bachelor's course in quantum technology is offered with the first qualifying Bachelor of Science degree as part of a consecutive bachelor's and master's course. The aim of the training is to provide students with knowledge of the most important areas of quantum technology and to familiarize them with the methods of engineering and physical thinking and working. Through their education and through the training of analytical thinking, the students should acquire the ability to later immerse themselves in the diverse, to familiarize themselves with the areas of responsibility assigned to them and, in particular, to develop the basic knowledge required for a consecutive Bachelor's/Master's degree. For this reason, particular value is placed on understanding the fundamental physical and chemical terms and laws as well as sound engineering knowledge of methods and the development of typical thought structures. With the bachelor's thesis, the students should show that they are able to work on an experimental or theoretical engineering task from the field of quantum technology in a narrowly thematic and time-limited scope, largely independently under supervision, in particular using known methods and scientific points of view.
