The bachelor's degree has a standard study time of six semesters and provides a first degree with the academic degree Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). Individual modules must be attended during the course of study, which are credited with so-called Credit Points (CP). The total scope of the services to be provided is 180 CP. After completing their studies, graduates have the opportunity to begin a higher-qualifying master's degree. The Saarland University also provides a structure through its degree programs that enables graduates to complete training as a psychotherapist in accordance with legal regulations.
