The Medical Diagnostic Analysis BSc with Optometry Specialization at Semmelweis University is a practice-oriented four-year bachelor's program designed for students who want to build a career in vision care, eye health, and clinical diagnostics. Curriculum Structure

Year 1

The first year builds a solid scientific and medical foundation by introducing students to the structure and function of the human body. Through subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathophysiology, alongside Public Health and Epidemiology, students develop the biological knowledge required for understanding eye health and patient care before progressing to specialist optometry studies.

Year 2

During the second year, students begin their specialist optometry education with a combination of theoretical learning and laboratory practice. Modules including Ocular Anatomy, Ophthalmic Pathology, Basics of the Optometrist Profession, Physiological Optics, and Applied Basic Ophthalmological Procedures help students understand eye diseases, visual function, and essential diagnostic techniques while developing practical clinical skills.

Year 3

The third year focuses on advanced optometric assessment and patient management through intensive practical training. Students study subjects such as Ophthalmic Optics, Contactology, Prescribing Eyeglasses, Physiology and Pathology of Binocular Vision, Pediatric Ophthalmology, and Optical Materials and Manufacturing Technology, while gaining hands-on experience in clinical environments and optical practice.

Year 4

The final year emphasizes professional practice and independent clinical competence through extensive field placements and research. Students complete Clinical Ophthalmology, Field Practice, Optical Shop Practice, and their Bachelor's Thesis, allowing them to integrate diagnostic knowledge with patient care and graduate ready for professional optometry practice or postgraduate study.
