Program Overview

The ELTE Dutch Studies major has been the center of Dutch Studies training in Hungary for nearly fifty years. Many generations of our students acquired and deepened their knowledge of the Dutch language and culture here. In addition to language studies1 the training includes the culture1 history and literature of the Dutch part of the Netherlands and Belgium1 as well as linguistics and art and media studies. In addition to these1 emphasis is also placed on the practice of translation. From the first year onwards1 the language classes are mainly conducted by our native language lecturers. Knowledge of the Dutch language is not a requirement for starting studies. In our linguistics and literature courses1 the teaching in the second year of the bachelor's degree is already mostly in Dutch.
