Program Overview

The Mongolian and Inner Asian Department1 which takes care of the Mongolian specialization1 has been operating for about 80 years1 and is the only higher education institution in the country providing independent training in Mongolian studies. The department is an internationally recognized research and teaching workshop for Hungarian Mongolian studies with a tradition dating back to the 19th century1 which provides training in Mongolian studies at the BA1 MA and PhD levels. In addition to practice-oriented language and traditional philological training1 the department places great emphasis on fieldwork-based research and the integration of their results into education. The Far Eastern Institute1 within which the department operates1 with its unique wide range of courses on Far Eastern topics (Mongolian1 Chinese1 Japanese1 Korean1 Tibetan) provides an opportunity to get to know other Far Eastern cultures and languages1 and specialists who have a comprehensive knowledge of them for training.
