Course Overview

  • Year 1: Introduction to Accounting, Developing Critical Thinking Skills, Principles of the Micro Economy, Principles of the Macro Economy
  • Year 2: Introduction to Management Accounting, Intermediate Management Accounting, Placement Skills and Professional Practice, Economics of Managerial Decision Making; Economics - Production and Costs, along with electives
  • Year 3: Study abroad for a whole year or Study abroad for a semester. You have the option to complete either a 6 month work placement or a research project
  • Year 4: Pick your thematic major which includes - Banking and Financial Markets, Human Resources and Leadership, Business, Development, and Consultancy, Markets and Consumer Understanding, Operations and Supply Chains. Select Minors from: Accounting, Business Economics, Food Business & Development, Government, Law, Management, Marketing, Mathematics, and Statistics

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • 6-month paid internship in Year 3 with leading companies in Ireland or abroad

  • Study abroad for a semester or full year in partner universities (US, Canada, Singapore, Europe)

  • Industry collaboration through real-world business projects and guest speakers

  • Emphasis on teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills

Progression & Future Opportunities

  • High graduate employability across sectors including finance, HR, management, and consulting

  • Graduates can pursue professional qualifications and exemptions (e.g., accounting, HR)

  • Progression routes to UCC postgraduate business degrees such as MSc Finance, MSc HRM, MAcc
