4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
The Bachelor of Education (Primary Teaching) at Dublin City University prepares you to become an effective, reflective and creative primary school teacher with the skills to inspire young learners from Junior Infants right through to sixth class. 📘 Curriculum Structure
Year 1
In your first year, you’ll explore how children learn and develop, studying education fundamentals, psychology and the structure of the Irish primary curriculum. Year 2
Second year deepens both your theoretical knowledge and your practical skills. Practical placements increase in duration so you start to teach under supervision in primary classrooms.
Year 3
In Year 3 you’ll take on greater responsibility in planning and delivering learning experiences, drawing on modules covering curriculum development, inclusive practice, classroom research and reflective teaching. You’ll engage in more extended school placements where you co-teach and lead lessons, strengthening your confidence and professional skills.
Year 4
Your final year broadens your understanding of education with advanced professional inquiry, leadership and research in education. You’ll engage with themes such as social justice, inclusion, community and school leadership, complete a research project, and undertake extended supervised placements that bring together your academic learning and professional practice.
