Biotechnology involves applying scientific and bioprocess engineering principles to the production of materials by biological agents. For example, biotherapeutic drugs derived from mammalian cells now treat many diseases and improve patient outcomes.You’ll gain an excellent foundation in genetics, cell biology, immunology, microbiology, bioinformatics and bioprocess engineering, as well as practical laboratory skills and invaluable skills in communications, critical thinking and problem solving. In your final year, you’ll decide to take focus either on research or on learning more about the biopharmaceutical industry.
