"Traditionally engineering has been an extension of, and defined in interaction with ""Physics."" However, with major advancements in this information age, many phenomena have arisen which cannot be simply explained by physical concepts. The main aim and starting point for establishing the Faculty of Information and Computer Science is to find and define a new basic concept for ""Information."" There are no precedent examples of such a faculty as we try to create an integration of information, communication, and computer domains. Therefore, the Faculty of Information and Computer Science does not simply combine information science, information engineering, communication engineering, and computer science. Instead it has been formed to study technologies for efficient ""information"" exchange. "
