The Department of Traditional Turkish Handcrafts, which is affiliated with the Faculty of Fine Arts, S leyman Demirel University, started its education life in 1994-1995 and continues its education as Carpet-Rug and Old Fabric Patterns, Illumination and Calligraphy. Students who are trained in our department are equipped with theoretical knowledge as well as applied education. The purpose of the department is carpet, rug, fabric, tile, ceramic, illumination, miniature, calligraphy, etc., each of which is a cultural product. To protect traditional Turkish Arts by using scientific and academic methods, to transfer them to future generations. Students, who successfully carry out their undergraduate programs, can participate in the double major program within 4 years of education, and obtain a bachelor's degree in a second branch, and participate in undergraduate education that will enable them to be informed in another branch of interest with the minor program. Students can earn a bachelor's degree, master's degree and proficiency in arts education at 16 different universities in the Czech Republic, Spain, France, Lithuania, Malta, Portugal, Poland, Slovenia where our faculty has an agreement with the Erasmus program. Students who successfully carry out their undergraduate programs can participate in a student exchange program with a Farabi program for a maximum of one year in a university they want in our country. In addition, with the Mevlana Program, higher education programs all over the world can participate in the exchange program without any geographical region distinction. Graduates who successfully complete their department are awarded a bachelor's degree in their field. Our alumni are libraries, museums, educational institutions etc. affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, municipalities and various public institutions. As artists, restorers, experts or trainers in units, they can work as art consultants in various private collections or work as freelance artists in the private sector, which makes production based on design, and become academicians when they meet the necessary conditions
