The word pediatrics and its cognates mean ""healer of children""; they derive from two Greek words: (pais ""child"") and (iatros ""doctor, healer""). Pediatricians work both in hospitals, particularly those working in its subspecialties such as neonatology, and as outpatient primary care physicians."
