Notable inventions and breakthroughs from RSU researchers include advancements in medication delivery, regenerative materials for dentistry/surgery, and digital health technologies.
In appreciation of their achievements in introducing novel techniques in oral and maxillofacial surgery employing cutting-edge bioceramic materials, the researchers have received Certificates of Appreciation. These materials ensure the renewal of bone density and volume in patients with osteoporosis or bone atrophy. They have used morphological, biomechanical, and radiological bone tissue studies to undertake experimental research on biomaterials for the local treatment of osteoporosis. The effectiveness of the surgical techniques established for strengthening the alveolar bone in peri-implantitis patients utilizing biomaterials made in Latvia was shown by clinical research on oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Participating in an inter-university and inter-institutional research effort, Prof. Ilze Konrāde and the RSU Human Genetics and Molecular Medicine Group discovered new type 2 diabetes treatment mechanisms and efficiency markers in patients' gut microbiomes.
