The Faculty of Dentistry University of Malaya was the first institution of higher learning in Malaysia to offer a degree course to train local candidates to become skilled and a holistic dental professional. The first batch of student intake was in 1972. This is currently a five-year programme where the first two years is dedicated to pre-clinical dental science and basic medical science teaching with exposure to clinical dentistry as early as in the first year. Basic Medical Science teaching is conducted in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, University Malaya.

Should require National Higher School Certificate (or an Advanced Level equivalent) with the grade 80% and above, A Diploma from recognized Institutions with at least a CGPA of 3.00, Applicant may be required to undergo an interview session for certain selection programme before being accepted by the respective faculty, Students are required to enroll in the Malay Language Programme prior to being conferred a degree, A band of 6.0 and above in IELTS (Academic)or A score of 550 (PBT), 213 (CBT) or 80 (IBT) and above in TOEFL, Band of 3 and above in Malaysian University English Test (MUET).
