University of Malaya is a public research university and was established in the year 1905. The university is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is the oldest university in Malaysia. In 2018, the QS World University Rankings has ranked the University of Malaya at the 87th place in the world. 

University of Malaya has twelve faculties: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Business and Accountancy, Faculty of Computer Science   Information Technology, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Economics Administration, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Built Environment. The university has two academies: Academy of Islamic Studies and Academy of Malay Studies. The University of Malaya comprises five institutes: the Institute of Graduate Studies, Asia-Europe Institute, Institute of Educational Leadership, Institute of China Studies, and International Institute of Public Policy & Management (INPUMA). The university also has six centers for the students: Cultural Centre, Sports Centre, Centre for Foundation Studies, Centre for Civilizational Dialogue, Academic Enhancement & Leadership Development Centre, and Centre for Initiation of Talent and Industrial Training (CITra). 

University of Malaya has more than 21,500 students which include 12,128 Undergraduate students, 8,927 Graduate students, and 2,903 International students. The university has more than 2,270 Faculty members. 

University of Malaya provides scholarship opportunities to the students on the basis of academic excellence. The university comprises a Library which holds more than 1.4 million titles with over 2.1 million items in various formats. In addition to that, the Library provides access to more than 85 online databases comprising of more than 46,000 e-journal titles and more than 150,000 e-book titles. The university also consists of Museum of Asian Art, UM Art Gallery, and the UM Archive.
