Year 2
Develop a deeper understanding of biomedical sciences and patient care across a variety of clinical environments. Practical learning continues through advanced nursing skills training and extended clinical placements. Key study areas include Introduction to Applied Biomedical Sciences, Nursing the Individual in Varied Contexts I, Complex Clinical Situations, Practical Nursing Skills III, and Practice Placements 3 & 4.
Year 3
Strengthen clinical decision-making through evidence-based nursing, advanced nursing knowledge, and professional development. Students gain extensive hands-on experience during clinical placements while managing increasingly complex patient care. Key study areas include Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing, Nursing the Individual in Varied Contexts II, Advancing Nursing Knowledge Related to Practice, Personal Growth and Professional Development II, and Practice Placements 5 & 6.
Year 4
Focus on advanced nursing practice, specialised care, and contemporary healthcare issues while refining professional clinical competencies. Students continue practical training through further placements and update their nursing skills in preparation for independent practice. Key study areas include Introduction to Advanced Nursing Practice and Specialisation, Contemporary Issues Relevant to Nursing Practice, Implementing Nursing Knowledge Related to Practice, Practical Nursing Skills Update, and Practice Placements 7 & 8.
Year 5
Complete the programme through advanced clinical practice, research, and independent professional development. Students undertake a nursing dissertation, final clinical placement, and optional elective while preparing for registration as a professional nurse. Key study areas include Dissertation in Nursing Studies, Health, Illness and Social Contexts, Personal Growth and Professional Development III, Practice Placement 9, and an Optional Study Unit.
