Bachelor's in International Finance & Control

Program Overview

The International Finance & Control programme at Hanze prepares you to become a finance professional ready for the international workplace, equipping you with the analytical skills, business acumen, and cultural awareness needed to make a real impact in today's dynamic business environment. This four-year bachelor's degree is ideal if you're analytically strong, eager to build an international career, and want hands-on experience applying theory to real-world financial challenges from day one.

 Curriculum Structure

Year 1: Building Your Financial Foundation

Your first year establishes the financial and economic fundamentals you'll need throughout the programme. You'll strengthen your skills in presenting, reporting, and English while working through four periods, each combining two theoretical courses with practical projects using the scrum project methodology. This approach means you're not just learning theory—you're immediately applying it by working in teams on actual business cases, which is where real learning happens.

Year 2: Deepening Business Economics Knowledge

During year two, you'll discover how information provision and business economics are inseparable, diving into courses covering annual planning, corporate tax, and liquidity management. The programme centres around business projects where you'll work on cases for real companies, giving you practical exposure to professional environments and helping you develop the analytical skills that organisations genuinely value.

Year 3: International Immersion and Professional Experience

Year three is transformative—you'll study abroad at one of Hanze's partner universities for a semester, then complete an internship at an internationally-oriented organisation either in the Netherlands or abroad. This combination of academic exchange and professional placement ensures you develop the global perspective and practical experience that sets you apart in the international job market.

Year 4: Specialisation and Expertise

Your final year begins with advanced courses in business control, financial accounting, and business strategy and risk. In the second semester, you'll complete your graduation research assignment—a thesis from an international perspective that demonstrates you've become a genuine expert in International Finance & Control.

 Focus Areas

Corporate finance, management accounting, financial analysis, supply chain management, and business strategy and risk management.

Learning Outcomes

You'll develop the ability to map out risks, gather and evaluate financial data, make informed financial decisions with international awareness, and understand how cultural differences impact business operations.
