Hanze University of Applied Sciences also known as Hanze UAS is based out of Groningen, Netherlands and is the largest vocational and technical education provider in northern Netherlands. The university was established in the year 1986 by the merger of various professional education institutes such as the Academy Minerva, founded in 1798.

The university has 28,432 students and 3280 staff out of which 8.1% of students are international. The university gets its name from Hanseatic League, which was a congregation of merchant guilds and market towns in Northwestern and Central Europe.

The university has 19 schools offering programs in the domains of Fine Art and Design, Architecture, Built Environment, Communication and Media, Civil Engineering, Nursing, Sports Studies, Healthcare, Law, and Engineering. 

Out of the 19 schools, 16 are located in Groningen with an exception of Hanze Institute of Technology in Assen, Pop Culture Institute in Leeuwarden, and Dance Academy in Amsterdam.

The university is also one of the handful of institutions to head and carry out numerous researches and projects in the domain of renewable energy and leading the world with the findings.

The Marian van Os Centre for Entrepreneurship of Hanze UAS offers sessions and seminars for students to develop entrepreneurship and educate students on developing skills, innovating, and developing their own career. The center has a dedicated team of researchers and professors investigating and advising students on problems specific to small and medium-sized enterprises.
