Hanze University of Applied Sciences also known as Hanze UAS is based out of Groningen, Netherlands and is the largest vocational and technical education provider in northern Netherlands. The university was established in the year 1986 by the merger of various professional education institutes such as the Academy Minerva, founded in 1798.
The university has 28,432 students and 3280 staff out of which 8.1% of students are international. The university gets its name from Hanseatic League, which was a congregation of merchant guilds and market towns in Northwestern and Central Europe.
