This programme gives students the opportunity to study several foreign languages and comparative literature, as well as to work with diverse texts in Russian and other European languages. Graduates will develop a systemic view of modern cultural, social and political processes which will be invaluable in helping them define their future career paths.

The BA programme in Philology offers a general humanistic education with an emphasis on comparative literature and linguistics. The programme is unique in combining essential philological training with the spirit of a liberal arts college. In particular, it brings together the traditional virtues of Russian university education, such as a carefully planned four-year curriculum, and the modern vision of humanistic knowledge, grounded in dialogue and admitting of diverse approaches and perspectives.

The programme is aimed at training professionals who can successfully apply various methods of philological analysis and interpretation of literary works, literary editing and copywriting, compiling electronic databases, digital libraries, portals and web archives. Programme graduates also work with complex texts in Russian and foreign languages.
