The Department of Urban Planning and Engineering fosters experts with the knowledge and capability to plan, design, develop and administer urban areas in order to enhance the quality of life for the current and future generations through sustainable development.Sustainable development can be attained through economical and social development of cities and by creating environment-friendly and pleasant urban spaces. Cities, which are in the midst of social, economical and environmental changes such as globalization, informationization, democratization, decentralization and global-warming, require highly qualified human resources with expertise on cities to attain sustainable development.
