The concept of Biotechnology has recently become popular, thanks to the achievements and its diffusion in the media. Its applications range from the conservation of the environment to the treatment or diagnosis of diseases, going through practically all the activities of the industrial, agricultural and scientific sectors, although man has used these technologies in a broad sense since almost the beginning of humanity.
