Of all sciences, chemistry occupies a central position in response to the progress of society. It is both a branch of science and an industry sector. As a science, the objective of this discipline is to research and study the properties and transformations occurring in matter; while in the industrial sector of high technology products it aims to make optimal use of non-natural matters and products. Given that everything which can be touched, seen, smelled, or feel is matter, there are not limits to this discipline. The Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry at the UAB is characterised by a high level of experimentation already in students' first year.
