The Autonomous University of Barcelona is a public university located in Catalonia, Spain. It was established in 1968. On 26 November 2009, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona gained recognition as a Campus of International Excellence. Though still a little less than 50 years old, the UAB has already secured its place among the 200 best universities in the world within the main university rankings and is located within the top 10 new universities with greatest international prominence.
