Criminologists are trained to determine why crimes have been committed and to understand, control, and prevent them. They are also trained to determine the complex and far-reaching consequences of these crimes. The discipline employs knowledge from a wide range of fields, including psychology, psychiatry, sociology, anthropology and law.
