Islamic Studies at the Basel Seminar for Middle East Studies deals primarily with the history, society and politics of the modern Middle East as well as with religious and cultural studies topics of Islam and Muslim life worlds in recent history and present. Basic technical education includes social science methods, models and theories that are combined with the workings of subjects such as history, philosophy and literary studies. An important element of the bachelor's program is the acquisition of language skills in Arabic and Turkish.
