Program Overview

Scandinavia is not only fascinated by spectacular landscapes, but also by its influential popular culture, ranging from children's books and thrillers to ABBA and Mando Diao to Arne Jacobsen and Ikea. The study of Nordic Studies provides direct access to the languages, literatures and cultures (including film, art, music theater, media, etc.) of the countries Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Faroe Islands and the Swedish-speaking areas of Finland. At the Bachelor level, language acquisition - Danish, Swedish, Norwegian or Icelandic - and the study of Scandinavian literature, medieval studies and linguistics are in the foreground. The manageable size of the Nordistik Seminar in Basel enables intensive contact between students and lecturers.

High school diplomas leading to a regulated profession, Secondary school certificates, Degrees of the first study level of less than 3 years duration (full time) or less than 180 ECTS, work experience, TOEFL ibT of 80, IELTS of 6.0, English language (level B2 or C1),Letter of Motivation, CV, German Language Proficiency.
