BA Architecture

The Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) at Ajman University delivers a professional architectural education that blends design creativity with technical and environmental understanding. Curriculum structure

Year 1:
Students begin with foundational courses such as Design Studio I, Architectural Graphics, and Introduction to Architecture, where they learn basic drawing, modelling, and design thinking. Complementary modules like Visual Communication and Mathematics for Design help develop spatial reasoning and the technical skills needed for architectural problem-solving.

Year 2:
In the second year, students progress to Design Studio II & III, Building Construction, and Architectural History, deepening their understanding of form, structure, and context. They explore materials, construction methods, and the cultural and historical influences that shape architecture.

Year 3:
Students engage with intermediate design and technical modules such as Environmental Systems, Structural Systems, and Urban Design, where they learn how buildings perform environmentally, how structural principles support form, and how architectural design responds to urban contexts. Design Studio IV challenges them to integrate technical knowledge into creative solutions.

Year 4:
The focus shifts to advanced architectural problems in Design Studio V & VI, Professional Practice, and Sustainable Design Strategies, preparing students for real-world architectural challenges. Electives and workshops enhance specialist interests, and students refine complex projects that demonstrate comprehensive design ability.

Year 5 (Final/Capstone):
In the final year, students undertake an intensive Final Design Thesis, synthesising all prior learning into an original architectural project. They also study Project Management and Law, equipping them with knowledge of professional procedures, regulations, and practice management.
