3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Amity University Dubai

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation and Film Production at Amity University Dubai is a four-year creative degree that blends traditional and digital animation with film production techniques, preparing students to tell stories visually using both hand-crafted and computer-generated media. It suits aspiring animators, directors, editors, game artists, cinematographers, and visual storytellers, offering industry-aligned skills in digital storytelling, motion design, and media technology.

Curriculum structure

Year 1:
In the first year, students develop a foundation in visual design and media fundamentals through units such as Introduction to Storytelling, Basics of Camera Techniques, and Drawing and Form, which introduce narrative structure, camera operation, and visual composition. Courses like Visual Design for Film and Animation and Post-Production for Moving Images build basic hands-on skills with industry tools, while general education units strengthen communication and media literacy. By the end of this year, learners begin to understand the basic principles behind animation and film visuals in creative contexts.

Year 2:
The second year deepens technical and conceptual skills with subjects such as Photography Theory and Practices, History of Motion Pictures, Media Ethics, Laws, and Regulations, and animation fundamentals like Principles of 2D Animation and 3D Modeling and Techniques. These units explore cinematic history, ethical media practice, and the core principles of movement and form in animation, while students learn software workflows for digital creation. This stage expands students’ creative toolkits and contextual understanding of media production.

Year 3:
In the third year, advanced creative practice is emphasised through modules like Motion Graphics Design, Film Production Theory and Practices, Lighting and Rendering, Sound Design for Film and Animation, VFX and Digital Compositing, and Cinematic Color Grading. Students learn to integrate visuals and sound, refine narrative pacing, and apply special effects, all of which enhance professional-level media projects. The curriculum also often includes an Internship, giving real-world experience in studios or media environments.

Year 4:
The final year concentrates on professional readiness and creative mastery with Industry Practices & Digital Portfolio, Ethics and Professional Responsibility, and major project work alongside electives. A Capstone Project requires students to produce a comprehensive body of work that showcases their animation, film production, storytelling, and technical skills, preparing them for industry roles or postgraduate study.
