Curriculum Structure

Year 1

Your first year introduces the fundamentals of computer science and helps you build confidence with core concepts. You’ll study subjects such as Software Development, Introduction to Computer Systems, Logic and Proof and Discrete Mathematics, alongside Web Design and Databases. This year focuses on learning how programs work, how data is organised and how computing systems interact.

Year 2

In the second year, you deepen your technical skills and start working with more complex systems. Modules like Data Structures and Algorithms, Programming Languages, Database Management Systems and Hardware–Software Interface teach you how efficient software is designed and how systems operate at a lower level. You’ll also continue developing web and application development skills.

Year 3

Your third year moves into advanced and applied areas of computer science. You’ll study topics such as Operating Systems and Concurrency, Data Communications and Networking, Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Agents and Language Processors. A group programming project helps you apply your knowledge collaboratively, reflecting how software is developed in professional environments.

Year 4

In your final year, you’ll specialise and work more independently. You’ll complete a substantial individual project that demonstrates your ability to design and deliver a complex computing solution. Alongside this, you can choose advanced options such as Computer Network Security, Data Mining and Machine Learning, Big Data Management, Games Programming or Advanced Human–Computer Interaction, tailoring the degree to your interests and career goals.
