Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Ajman University

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Ajman University is a comprehensive 4-year undergraduate degree that prepares students to deliver safe, ethical, and evidence-based nursing care across the lifespan by combining theory, clinical skills, and supervised practicum experiences. It suits students who want careers as professional nurses in hospitals, community health settings, schools and public health roles and emphasizes communication, critical thinking, and culturally-sensitive patient care.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1

In the first year, students build foundational healthcare knowledge and professional skills with courses such as Communication Skills & Medical Terminology for Nurses (BSN101), Introduction to Healthcare (BSN102), Anatomy and Physiology I for Nurses (PHA132), and Fundamentals of Nursing I (BSN103). They develop effective communication, understand the organization of health systems, and begin learning essential body-system structure and basic nursing care principles. This year also incorporates general education courses to strengthen academic skills.

Year 2

The second year deepens clinical and scientific competence with modules like Health Assessment (BSN201), Fundamentals of Nursing II (BSN202), Anatomy and Physiology II for Nurses (PHA234), and Clinical Microbiology for Nurses (PHA262). Students refine patient assessment and care techniques while linking biological sciences with ongoing nursing practice, gaining confidence in clinical reasoning and procedural skills.

Year 3

In the third year, students focus on specialised nursing care with Adult Health Nursing (Theory & Clinical), Maternity and Newborn Health Nursing (Theory & Clinical), Pediatric Health Nursing (Theory & Clinical), and Evidence-Based Practice and Nursing Research (BSN309). These modules enhance their ability to manage complex patient cases across varied populations and introduce research-based decision-making that supports quality nursing practice.

Year 4

The final year consolidates advanced professional practice through Community Health Nursing (Theory & Clinical), Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (Theory & Clinical), Nursing Management and Leadership (BSN405), and a series of Clinical Rotations in areas such as critical care and community health. Students integrate leadership, ethical practice, and comprehensive clinical skills while preparing for licensure and real-world nursing responsibilities.
