BSc Pharmacy

The Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) at Ajman University is a 4½-year professional degree that equips students with the scientific knowledge, clinical skills and practical training needed to become competent pharmacists. It suits students who are strong in biology, chemistry and mathematics and who are interested in healthcare, medication therapy, patient counselling and the design, formulation and safe administration of drugs in community and clinical settings. 

Curriculum structure

Year 1:
In the first year, students build core foundations in both science and pharmacy with units such as Pharmacy and Communication Skills, Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry I, Principles of Human Anatomy & Physiology I, and General Biology. These courses introduce basic drug chemistry, human body systems and professional communication, while labs support practical understanding of biological and chemical principles that underpin future pharmacy studies. 

Year 2:
The second year expands into pharmaceutical sciences and clinical grounding with subjects like Pharmaceutics I, Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Immunology I, Pharmacology I, and Medicinal Chemistry I, along with Pharmaceutical Calculations and Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences I. Students learn how drugs are formulated and analysed, how microbes and immune responses interact with medications, and begin exploring patient-care environments through structured practice experiences. 

Year 3:
In the third year, students delve deeper into therapeutics and drug action with modules such as Pharmaceutics III, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacology III, Therapeutics I, and Research Methodology for Pharmacy. This phase connects drug behaviour in the body to treatment planning, while research methodology prepares students to critically interpret scientific data and evidence-based practice. 

Year 4:
The final regular academic year focuses on advanced clinical and professional subjects like Therapeutics III, Pharmacovigilance and Epidemiology, Principles and Practice of Toxicology, Regulatory Affairs in Pharmacy, and Pharmacy Management and Marketing, capped with a Graduation Project. These units prepare students for real-world healthcare challenges, regulatory environments, drug safety monitoring, and the business aspects of pharmacy practice.

Year 5 (Experiential Practice):
The programme culminates in a dedicated Professional Practice Experience semester where students complete a series of rotations in settings such as Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Community Pharmacy, Hospital Pharmacy and Management, and Infectious Diseases. These supervised experiential placements reinforce clinical competence, patient interaction skills and readiness for professional licensure.
