Curriculum Structure

Year 1

In the first year, your focus is on building a strong foundation in architectural design and technology. You’ll develop essential skills in Architectural Representation and Modelling, learning CAD, hand drawing, and model-making to communicate design ideas. Introduction to Architectural Design encourages experimentation and creativity through studio-based projects. Architectural Design for Construction 1 introduces construction technology, focusing on domestic building elements and materials, while Environmental Science and Services teaches how building elements interact with engineering systems to create sustainable environments.

Year 2

The second year delves deeper into technical, historical, and managerial aspects of architecture. You will study History of Architecture and Construction, exploring the evolution of architectural styles and construction methods. Design and Construction Management helps you communicate design and construction information through specifications, schedules, and drawings. Procurement and Administration introduces the processes of acquiring and managing construction projects. Additionally, the Discipline Research Project allows you to carry out an extended study on a design-related topic, sharpening your research skills for professional practice.

Year 3

In your final year, you integrate everything you’ve learned into comprehensive design projects that simulate professional practice. Integrated Architectural Design and Practice enables you to apply your knowledge to real-world scenarios. The Final Project is a substantial design assignment that showcases your expertise in architectural design and technology, allowing you to demonstrate both creativity and technical competence before graduation.
